Why aren’t you in school? My daughter gets this question a lot as we are out and about during the day. She always proudly answers with, “I’m homeschooled”. There is usually an awkward silence followed by an even more awkward question. Many times it has to do with socialization. I embrace these moments.
Easter is such a wonderful holiday and it is my daughter’s favorite holiday. She loves everything about Easter. Her favorite traditions are making Resurrection Rolls, dressing fancy, completing our Resurrection Eggs and (of course) coloring Easter Eggs.
Back in kindergarten, your child probably spent lots of time counting things one by one, whether leaves, toes, or fingers. Now that first grade is here, though, your child will need to be able to count in groups, and especially by fives.
Teaching your kids can and should be fun. This is not always easy, but teaching verbs makes it easy. So hop, skip, jump, run and swing. Go ahead, do it all and let your kids join in the fun.
My Daughter and I recently read Thanksgiving on Thursday by Mary Pope Osborne. I have been trying to get her to read the Magic Tree House series for quite sometime but she has been against it. She can be stubborn that way. I decided to download one on my iPad and trick her.
What has your weather been like these days? We have had beautiful sunny days but unfortunately some afternoons have been almost too hot. This makes getting outside feel more like a chore than fun. We go out for short periods of time but after while the heat wins and we find ourselves back inside. The question is how do you pass the time?
The little miss and I have recently been reading Stories About Me by Sara Alice. When we received this book my daughter was immediately excited to see the cover. There is a place in the center of the cover for a photo of none other than your little cutie. What could be better than having your photo on the cover of a book? The new dilemma was whether she would draw the photo or we would take one to attach. This book is already promoting decision making and that is a great thing.
I recently took a Facebook test to determine whether I am predominantly right or left brained. For me this test was a no brainer (ha-ha). I got 75% right brain and 25% left brain. I was not surprised at all. I rely on my creative side daily and always have. I use it for problem solving and it is how I chose my career. I was a minority among my adult friends. Most of them had a higher left brain score. My husband often says that one of the things he likes the most about me is my childlike spirit.

We have been working on U.S. geography over here at Let’s Learn With Style. Although I love it, I have to admit I am no Alexander von Humboldt. I am more of a “take me where the wind leads me” kind of girl. Since my daughter has a wild spirit and an amazing sense of adventure I really need to nail this subject down. I want her to always know where she is going and to be able to find her way back to me too!
