I recently took a Facebook test to determine whether I am predominantly right or left brained. For me this test was a no brainer (ha-ha). I got 75% right brain and 25% left brain. I was not surprised at all. I rely on my creative side daily and always have. I use it for problem solving and it is how I chose my career. I was a minority among my adult friends. Most of them had a higher left brain score. My husband often says that one of the things he likes the most about me is my childlike spirit.
So where is all of this going? Well friends, let me tell you. I was recently asked to review the book My Sandwich is a Spaceship: Creative Thinking for Parents & Young Children by Cyndi Burnett and Michaelene Dawson-Globus. Although I was all in on the title alone, it wasn’t until I got the book and read it that I knew it was a perfect match for a right brained girl like me. This book is about using creativity to help your children solve problems and be more successful. The beauty is that it channels your inner creativity as a parent and does the same thing for your child. I felt myself becoming inspired as I read each page.
This book is highly interactive and provides several pages for creative opportunity for you and your children. I found myself filling those pages and then filling the pages of a separate notebook. This book is filled with endless ideas on connecting with and understanding your child. It inspired me to write a book study which I have attached. I encourage you to complete it with your child. I am so excited that I get to share a copy of this amazing book with one of my readers! Please enter for the April 28 giveaway of My Sandwich is a Spaceship below.
