Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 each year and shows support for environmental protection. This day is not only about appreciating the environment it is also about preserving it as well. We decided to celebrate this day with four fun activities.
It is National Play-Doh Day, woo-hoo! We are not only rolling out some doh to make a few awesome creations, we are going to whip up a batch as well!
Painting and then hiding rocks has become this summer’s craze. Rock painting is taking place in cities everywhere and there are often social media pages devoted to this fun trend. The local Facebook page for my community, 719 Rocks!, has gained over 16,000 followers in a few months’ time. I must say, I think this is such a positive use of technology.
Kids are little sponges. They soak in everything they see and hear. We are told this all the time and it is true. Kids take in everything. It is an interesting analogy, as sponges can get gross over time. Does that mean are kids are taking in the bad stuff along with the good and are impacted by it? Unfortunately, they are!
In the last two years my daughter and I have created a fairy garden together. These are often made in small pots or whiskey barrels. However, we were having so much fun that we decided we needed something much bigger.
Saint Patrick’s Day is filled with parades, shamrocks, green, corned beef cabbage and many other fun traditions. What is Saint Patrick’s Day really about? My daughter will often ask me what holidays are really about. She wants to know what she is celebrating. This not only makes me proud, but forces me to investigate and learn as well.
Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite times of year. I know it is a very commercial holiday, but I love how excited kids get about this day. I have fond memories of exchanging valentines and I know my kids love it too.
Raise your hand if you are tired of snow and cold weather. Luckily, here in Colorado it hasn’t been too bad this year. That doesn’t mean I’m not up for a little more sunshine and few more park days. Groundhog day is here and we will find out if spring is upon us or we will have six more weeks of frigid weather. Brrr…
Snow days. Do you love them or dread them? I personally love them! I watch for school closings, which is silly because we home school. I remember loving them as a kid so I think I just get nostalgic as I see snow falling and know that kids may be staying home to play.
My sweet girl has a terrible allergy to artificial food dye. She has thrown up, had terrible rashes and even passed out due to this awful affliction.
