Moms. They are often overworked, underappreciated, tired, messy and loved more than they know. They are also so grateful for the amazing title they have been given. Being a mom has made me love my mom even more. My mom is strong, courageous, beautiful and giving. What comes to mind when you think of your mom? I love learning unfamiliar words and having my kids join in. We often choose a new word of the week and practice using it in various ways. My kids love pulling out the dictionary to find new intriguing words. I am a self-proclaimed word nerd and my kids are known to be little grammar police.
Homeschooling is challenging and rewarding. Many days we get caught up on one thing and don’t even get to everything that I had planned. I love that we have the freedom to focus on one area if we really want to. It makes me feel like school is enjoyable, and that is what I really want. Unfortunately, it can take away from my planning time too.

Acoustic Rooster and His Barnyard Band by Kwame Alexander is a great introduction to jazz greats for little ones. It includes a jazz glossary, information on some of music’s greatest jazz artists and an amazing jazz timeline. I was positively delighted as I read this book to my daughter.
Throw your hands in the air if your kids have lost something this week. Really. Throw them in the air and then wave them like you just don’t care because sometimes that is all you can do. Who knew little people could lose so much stuff? Now join me in a moment of silence for all of the time we have spent searching for their stuff. Seriously, I am so over it.
Pokemon, Batman, Star Wars, and Wonder Woman. All of these are things that kids love. They all involve epic battles. Even shows like My Little Pony have feuds in them. It seems like the more conflict or action there is, the more kids love it. I’m thinking there could be a correlation between the two. You know what would be even better? If you could somehow incorporate this idea into learning, right?
Have you jumped on the essential oil train yet? I know I have! I haven’t replaced all of my modern medicine with them but I definitely use them and love them. My daughter can’t go to sleep without her diffuser going in her room. I also find that they help her focus when we are doing school work.
Here at Let’s Learn With style we are huge fans of music. We listen to music while we do lessons, yoga, make our Sunday morning breakfast and as we drift off to sleep. Our favorite time to use it is during lessons. I have been using music to help my students since I was a classroom teacher. It is said that music can improve your mood, help you concentrate, make you smarter, help determine your personality type and even make you sleepy.
