A love of reading is something that can be grown starting from the time your kids are in your belly. I firmly believe this. I started reading to each of mine before they were even born and have continued to read to them as they are growing.
My son is in college now but he still has a love of reading and continues to read as a young adult. He also buys me the latest book from my favorite series before I even know it is out. I think that is pretty awesome. It makes me feel proud to know that I have created a person that values reading, and in turn, education. My six year old daughter has recently started reading chapter books. She doesn’t even want me to read to her all the time now. She often reads to me. It is bitter sweet! I treasure the time we spend reading together and love to hear her read to me. My daughter and I have compiled a list of our favorite chapter books series. We hope you enjoy reading them as much as we do!
1. A new favorite is Magic Tree House by Mary Pope Osborne. It took me a while to convince her to read these but now she loves them! I read these to my son when he was young and now get to enjoy them again with my daughter. I really love this series because there is so much you can do with it. I try and write a book study for each one. Many of them also include bits of history which makes them even better in my book.
2. Another series we love is Bailey School Kids by Debbie Dadey. This is another series I read with my son. They are a little more difficult to find but worth looking for. I have had luck finding them on Amazon, resell sites and at thrift stores. They great part is they are very affordable. These books also have a teaching element to them. They include a lot of fun factual information throughout each story. They also have a little bit of silliness and imagination which is great for creative young minds. My daughter loves these books. Another bonus is many of them include bonus puzzles and questions at the end of the book. These are also great for book studies and expanded learning.
3. We recently discovered a new series called The Princess in Black by Shannon Hale. We received our first book through the Barnes and Nobles summer reading program. My daughter was hooked right away! She loves the daring little princess in this series. This little princess can not only pull off the perfect party, she can also save members of her royal community from impending danger. This is a fun series for girly and not-so-girly girls.
4. The American Girl series is another wonderful one to read. This one is a little more challenging for my six year old but we can buddy read or I can read them to her. These also contain historical information. I also love the values that are presented throughout these stories. They teach the importance of family, friendship, loyalty, honesty and so much more.
5. Another series we love is Cam Jansen by David A. Adler. This is an adorable series about a kid detective with a photographic memory. She spends her days solving mysteries with her friend Eric. This series really gets the creative juices flowing. My daughter plays detective each time we read one. She loves creating and solving mysteries around our house.

It is such an amazing post, dear!Have a nice weekend:)
