Today is National Chocolate Cupcake Day. These yummy treats date back to 1796. They were first mentioned in a recipe notation by Amelia Simmons. Can you believe they have been around that long?

They have also been know by alternative names including fairy cakes and patty cakes. Now that I have filled my brain with cupcake knowledge, I think I will fill my tummy with a yummy cupcake.
