I considered myself pretty crafty until my daughter came along and set me straight. Don’t get me wrong, she doesn’t come out and tell me I’m not good. It has just become somewhat apparent.
She was out crafting me by three, creating her own crafts by four, and out sewing me by six. She even mends her own stuffed animals… embarrassing! If I could punish her for being better at crafts I just might do it. Since that would be frowned upon I just keep pinning and hoping to find a winner. (Disclaimer, no children were punished during the composing of this post 😉 ) Sigh… She really should have her own Pinterest page but she is too young of course, so I scour the pages for her trying to find the very best creations. With fall being one of our very favorite seasons we made sure we had more than enough crafts lined up. So I decided to share our top five in no particular order.

1. The first one we love is Fall Leaf Lantern. These are so pretty and easy to make. They look beautiful lit up on the counter or porch. You can even get a flame free candle at a dollar store to make it safe for the little ones. Here is a link with all of the directions:

2. The next one, Pine Cone Owl, is adorable and oh so simple. It is also very inexpensive as it can be made with things you can find on a nature hike. You could also get creative and make another animal. Here’s a link if you want a tutorial:

3. The Melted Crayon is fairly simple and turns out so beautiful. I really love this one and you could really do it with any fall fruit. It would look beautiful on a Pattypan squash. Here is a link for this beautiful craft:

4. Fall Button Craft is another really fun project. You can have total creative freedom with this one. We started with buttons but ended up using a variety of mixed media including buttons, felt pieces, paint, scrabble pieces and more. We didn’t follow any certain tutorial for this one.

5. We also tried Fall Felt Air Freshener. These are so cute and you could really make them for any season. They would also make adorable gifts. There are several templates if you need one but we just cut out a pumpkin shape. My six year old was able to complete this with very little help. She does have previous sewing experience. The Pinterest tutorial fills theirs with cloves and cinnamon but you could also use essential oils:
