I love Halloween and everything that goes with it. We have so much fun decorating, singing the songs and reading the books. The books are so much fun! We had so much fun reading we want to share a list of our top six favorite books. It has been really hard to narrow it down, but here are the top six books my daughter really loves this Halloween season.
1. Ghouls Don’t Scoop Ice Cream by Debbie Dadey and Marcia Thornton Jones
We love The Bailey School Kids series. I read them with my son years ago and am pretty excited to be reading them with my little lady. This one will have you on the edge of your seat as you investigate whether or not the new worker at burger doodle is really a spy for a family of vampires. I hope you love it as much as we did. I would recommend this book for ages 6-9.

2. The Scariest Thing of All by Debi Gliori
Don’t be fooled by the title! This one can be enjoyed by adults and the little ones. A little rabbit named Pip must decide if he can stand up to the scariest thing of all. I would recommend this book for kids of all ages but it will most likely be preferred by the little ones. My six year old was a big fan.

3. There Was An Old Monster by Rebecca by Adrian and Ed Emberley
This book is similar to There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly. It is a very cute little story and has a song that you can download to listen to as well. Download the song at www.scholastic.com/oldmonster. This book would be great for toddlers and young elementary students.

5. Boo to You by Lois Ehlert
This was another favorite this year. This is a cute story of mice throwing a party and trying to leaving the local cat out. The best part of this book is the illustrations! They are done with collage art. We will definitely be doing a little lesson on collage art and creating a Halloween scene of our own. I can’t wait! I would recommend this book for toddlers and young elementary aged kids. The art lesson could definitely be adapted to kids of all ages.

6. I’m not Scared! by Jonathan Allen
Our very favorite book so far this season! Baby owl takes a midnight stroll and is reminded by all of the animals to not be afraid. It is a very cute story about being brave. I recommend this book for preschool to early elementary. My daughter loves it so much she wants her very own copy!

These sound like great books. My boys are really into books and they just love Halloween! I’d love to look into #1 for my 8-year-old and #6 for my 4-year-old
My kids have this halloween doorbell book that they love, and my daughter has a really old Dora Halloween book that she is obsessed with!
I haven’t read any of those! I need to hop down to the library soon!
We haven’t read most of those. We do like There Was An Old Monster. My kids very favorite right now is Fall Mixed Up.
I really have to look for these! My little guy just learned how to read and has been devouring every book in the house!
