Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 each year and shows support for environmental protection. This day is not only about appreciating the environment it is also about preserving it as well. We decided to celebrate this day with four fun activities.

The first activity was picking up garbage around the neighborhood. We grabbed a trash bag and filled it with as much trash as we could. We also decided to plant something in a pot we decorated. My daughter loved this activity and she will be able to enjoy it throughout the summer. The third activity was a short craft.
You will need:
- A small canvas or piece or card stock
- Glue
- Paint (we used blue and green to represent the earth)
- Loose things we collected from nature such as sticks, small pebbles, blades of grass and so on (we did not pick anything for this activity)
Directions:
- You will begin by painting your canvas or paper. (We used an Earth theme)
- Set it aside to dry.
- Then take a nature walk a collect enough items to spell out the word Earth.
- Write the word Earth on your Canvas or paper after it has dried.
- Glue your nature items along the word Earth.
- Allow it to dry and you have a beautiful piece of art to celebrate Earth day!
We also read Earth Day Every Day by Lisa Bullard. This was a perfect way to teach my daughter about protecting the Earth and appreciating the world we live in.
