We are huge fans of Chick-fil-A. We love the food but there are so many other things that keep us loyal to Chick-fil-A. We go there weekly for Kids Club and have been known to show up the next day for Story and Craft Time. Several of the employees know my daughter and me by name. You could say this is due to excessive visits, but I prefer to call it excellent customer service.
The level of care and service is always beyond anything we could expect. So when we received this Upcycle Challenge we were excited and wanted to show Chick-fil-A just how much we love them. The challenge asked us to upcycle a salad container. Since salads are one of my favorite things to eat at Chick-fil-A, I was all in! My favorite is the new Spicy Southwest Salad topped with creamy salsa dressing. Yum!
Right away my daughter and I started brainstorming ideas for our containers. Yes, we had more than one! Did I mention we go A LOT… We both thought a garden theme was the best way to honor the salad and Cow. We decided to go the fairy garden route since this is something we do together every summer.
We started by washing our containers thoroughly. We then painted them with paint we had picked up earlier. We chose black and white to honor Cow of course! We also used one of the containers to make a mini greenhouse. We planted seeds and allowed them to grow for about a week so we would have plants when it all came together. Here is a list of everything we used.

We decided to just go crazy and use our imaginations creating. I encourage you to do the same. We had so much fun experimenting with the different containers and setups of our fairy garden.
What we ended up with was better than anything we could have imagined. We now have an interactive sensory fairy garden. We used corn, water, hay, soil plants, and toys in our interactive sensory garden. Our little Chick-see Hollow has been a huge hit and brought hours of playtime fun. I love that I not only got to spend time creating with my daughter but now we can spend time playing as well.
This Upcycle Challenge was such fun. It provided such an amazing bonding experience for my daughter and me. Thank you Chick-fil-A!

This is an awesome way to teach kids about upcycling and of course, growing plants as well. I love that you also painted the containers. This is such a fun activity!
