Back in kindergarten, your child probably spent lots of time counting things one by one, whether leaves, toes, or fingers. Now that first grade is here, though, your child will need to be able to count in groups, and especially by fives.

What’s This Day Really About?
Celebrating Saint Patrick

Saint Patrick’s Day is filled with parades, shamrocks, green, corned beef cabbage and many other fun traditions. What is Saint Patrick’s Day really about? My daughter will often ask me what holidays are really about. She wants to know what she is celebrating. This not only makes me proud, but forces me to investigate and learn as well.

Valentine's Day Sun Catcher Craft

Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite times of year. I know it is a very commercial holiday, but I love how excited kids get about this day. I have fond memories of exchanging valentines and I know my kids love it too.

Groundhog Day Stories and Activities

Raise your hand if you are tired of snow and cold weather. Luckily, here in Colorado it hasn’t been too bad this year. That doesn’t mean I’m not up for a little more sunshine and few more park days. Groundhog day is here and we will find out if spring is upon us or we will have six more weeks of frigid weather. Brrr…
